"shoot through mesh"...?

Any of you tried shooting a recurve or a long bow through the "shoot through" mesh on a blind? I just bought a new one with the netting and am not too sure it will work. I guess i could see how a compound might have enough arrow speed to preclude any problems, but I am not sure about my bow.

Anyone have any experience with this?

OkKeith

No personal experience but have seen quite a bit of it in videos. I would think as long as the broadhead is sharp there would be no issue. If you have enough energy to penetrate hide, the mesh should be a cake walk.

Hey Lonnie,

I see what you mean, but you don't think the energy it would take to go through the mesh would alter the way the arrow flies or slow the arrow down do you? I suppose I could practice a little through the mesh, but after I poke a bunch of holes in it shooting at targets it would be sort of a moot point, huh?

Thanks for the help, if I do any testing I'll let ya know how it turns out.

OkKeith

It works fine with broadheads, but don't try it with a Judo.

Not much of a story, but it will tear a big hole in your netting and the arrow will veer off inan unpredictable direction.

Aww... now Reg,
You could have spiced it up with a harrowing tale of arrows caroming wildly around inside the blind, at last coming to a quivering rest only inches from vital body parts! But you would have to tell it with your head tilted slightly back and your eyes WIDE open.

Thanks for the advice though.

OkKeith

Big fixed blade broadheads and feathers = minimal effect from the screen. The biggest problem is maintaining normal shooting form, technique, follow through, etc... when the animal is 8 feet away!

Thanks for the advice Alan,
I did a few test shots, and it seems to work fine. I haven't quite figured out the best way to sit/stand/kneel. I think I will have to use my shorter bows. My longbows hang up either in the roof of the blind or dink in the dirt.

OkKeith
Having never used one of these blinds but considering it, could you advise if they are practical for a hunter with a stool using a 70" longbow, mesh in or out?
Thanks
