<P style="MARGIN: 0px">Here is a new one. Pulls 52# at 27". 64" backed with snake skins over raw flax. Also, it has a heat treated belly. A good shooter and I really enjoy it.<BR><BR>danny</P> <P style="MARGIN: 0px">&nbsp;</P> <P style="MARGIN: 0px"><IMG alt="" hspace=0 src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/wakolbinger/crazy%20curve/IMG_0125.jpg" align=baseline border=0></P> <P style="MARGIN: 0px">&nbsp;</P> <P style="MARGIN: 0px"><IMG alt="" hspace=0 src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/wakolbinger/crazy%20curve/IMG_0127.jpg" align=baseline border=0></P> <P style="MARGIN: 0px">&nbsp;</P> <P style="MARGIN: 0px"><IMG alt="" hspace=0 src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/wakolbinger/crazy%20curve/IMG_0129.jpg" align=baseline border=0></P> <P style="MARGIN: 0px">&nbsp;</P> <P style="MARGIN: 0px"><IMG alt="" hspace=0 src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/wakolbinger/crazy%20curve/IMG_0130.jpg" align=baseline border=0></P> <P style="MARGIN: 0px">&nbsp;</P> <P style="MARGIN: 0px"><IMG alt="" hspace=0 src="http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y40/wakolbinger/crazy%20curve/IMG_0126.jpg" align=baseline border=0></P>

<P style="MARGIN: 0px">Awesome bow! I just successfully completed my first recurve, but it's nowhere as nice as this one! Well done.</P> <P style="MARGIN: 0px">&nbsp;</P> <P style="MARGIN: 0px">Mind if I pick your brain a bit?</P> <P style="MARGIN: 0px">When you say raw flax, then you're not using woven or spun linen, but grown flax? Has it been "retted" or combed out at all? How do you apply it?</P> <P style="MARGIN: 0px">&nbsp;</P> <P style="MARGIN: 0px">Heat treating is completely new to me. What are the benefits, and how is it accomplished? I've heard of heat tempering bamboo, is this similar?</P> <P style="MARGIN: 0px">&nbsp;</P> <P style="MARGIN: 0px">Thanks, and thanks for posting pics of your bow. Looks super!</P> <P style="MARGIN: 0px">Pastor Steve</P> <P style="MARGIN: 0px">&nbsp;</P> <P style="MARGIN: 0px">&nbsp;</P>

<P style="MARGIN: 0px">Yup someones home grown flax, I picked it up at MOJAM. It has been full retted and combed. I can tease out uniform strands that are the full length of the limb, and you can make then thick enough that it only takes three or four&nbsp;of these to back the whole limb. I put tite bond 3 on the back, lay down the flax, put more tite bond on and smooth it out. You can sand it and smooth it all out when it's dry, and if there's any spots you missed you can go back and get them with smaller bundles, and then sand and smooth them too.</P> <P style="MARGIN: 0px">&nbsp;</P> <P style="MARGIN: 0px">Heat treating and tempering are the same thing if I understand correctly. I clamp the bow back on the caul once the bow is almost fully tillered, and then I hold the heat gun 5" or so from the wood moving gently around till that area goes from a orange(in the case of osage) to nice dark redish brown. Then move on till the whole limb is done, then the whole bow. Let it cool like that for a day or two. Then take it out and retiller and finish out. The result in SOME woods will be a much higher pecentage of the orginal reflex will be held. I tried once on mulberry, it worked to keep a good reflex but it also freted like crazy after that...</P> <P style="MARGIN: 0px">&nbsp;</P> <P style="MARGIN: 0px">Just hollar if you have any more ?</P> <P style="MARGIN: 0px">&nbsp;</P> <P style="MARGIN: 0px">danny</P>
