I'll be honest folks. The price of gasoline is making me rethink whether I can attend my two favorite events this year. Cloverdale and MOJam. Just the thought of spending $250-$300 in fuel alone, round trip, makes me cringe. I was wondering how everyone else is feeling about this.

Tom, I'm 60 miles west of you and we can car pool to MOJAM. Going to Brad's bowjam in WI early May if you want a ride there. For trip to Ohio to visit Brian and the expo I am driving my new hand me down - maybe a hand me back since I got it for my son - '94 Prizm to more than double my fuel dollar range over my pick up truck.

I like Compton, Kentucky Klassic, Cloverdale, Kzoo and many other gatherings, but have cut back on the number the last couple years because of expenses. Send me a PM or e-mail if you want to split fuel to one of these events.

I am having to rethink a lot of trips because of fuel costs. I usually make a trip to Ontario in June to wear out the smallmouths and pike with a flyrod. Not going this year, fuel in Canada is pretty pricey as well.

I also spend 2 weeks or so in centralish Wyoming snapping dryflies off in the willow/alder brush ( and occasionally catching a trout). Most likely a no go as well.

No Turkeys in Texas either (combination of fuel and licensee/tag cost).

I suppose I am lucky though. I can drive 30 min. in any direction and get good hunting or fishing. My hunting lease is only 40 min. away. There are several small city lakes within 15 min. me and my float-tube will have to get reacquainted with, and my Mom and Dad saw fit to get me a lifetime hunting and fishing licensee as a high school graduation gift, so I don't have any licensee or tag fees here at home.
If I want to drive an hour, I can get into some decent river smallies if my poppers get lonely.

I can cut down the travel and still be able to afford the good beer I guess.

OkKeith

I hear ya Tom, I would love to make Cloverdale, but Ojam just cost me $200.00 one way, and I had to go back home I may have to wait to go to Cloverdale next year, Mojam is a must for this year, for me anyway. Sharing a ride is a good idea if ya can.

Yup, Linda and I were talking last night and it was decided that if we could only make one, it'd be MOJam. Hate to miss #10.

Shaun - When we go to MOJam, I'm usually pulling a trailer (kids bows supplies and machines) and there are 3 or 4 of us in the car. 13-15 MPG. Ouch!
