ok,saw another post and remembered what i've been meaning to ask but keep getting sidetracked and forget. 1) pine pitch is the goo that leaks from a pine tree and hardens on the outside, right? 2) do you have to do anything to it before you can use it to attach a flint head on cane or wood shafts?

I get a load of it and heat it in a clay bowl till it is liquid then I add some hardwood ash to it and a bit of bees wax..not really necessary with the bees wax but makes it not as brittle when dry...you can use fresh pitch that is still kinda wet right off the tree for waterproofing but I wouldn't recommend it as the only way to attach head..I like my mix for waterproofing and head attachment...dries hard and isn't real brittle....gut

thanks gut, that was something i always wanted to know but kept forgetting to ask.
