after 25 years bowhunting with cold hearted manufactured(compound) bows. i built my own longbows and haven't picked up the compound since. i didn't harvest a whitetail the first year, but i did gather a nice pile of soft white belly hair off of a 8 point buck. i am two for two over the last two years. last year i made an awesome shot as the buck turned away at 10 yards when he noticed something wasn't right, and began to return ro the corn field he came from. the white fletched cedar arrow disappeared into his left side and exited out his lung area. the zwickey eskimo 2 blade did its job as he took his last breath only 40 yards from me.
i have taken coon and possum also with the longbow. while shooting and unsanded bow in the works in the yard, i shot at a bumble bee in flight, i didn't kill him. just winged it.
for me, hunting with a longbow that you made yourself and leaving all the technology behind is the most rewarding style of hunting i can do. too many people go out "killing" and are forgeting to go hunting. iv'e shot bigger deer with other weapons, but i'm most proud of the ones harvested with the longbow and cedar arrow.
i'll keep building bows and converting one bowhunter at a time!!!!!!!!!!!

dave
