i kept waiting and watching the clock and weather this morning chomping at the bit to go hunting.it was raining till about 7;00am this morning, good thing cause there had been about 1/4 inch of ice on everything when i went to bed last night.the rain had washed away the snow and ice that we had acquired yesterday.as the rain subsided and it began to start spittin snow i figured it was now or never,it was gaining light fast as i made my way over the hill here behind my house in route to the stand.i'd traveled about 350yds down through the woods and had another 100yds to go before reaching the stand which is on a low bench that the deer normally travel from night time feeding back to the bedding area.as i was making my final approach to the stand, movement caught my eye. i counted 10 deer, the lead deer was an old mature doe with two bucks directly behind her,it was still too dark to tell how big the bucks were but the old doe would stop occasionally letting the first buck behind to mount her and breed, the 2nd buck was never allowed to get close.needless to say,i had to stay at my vantage point untill all the deer had passed.if only i could have been 10minutes earlier, they passed my stand at less than 15yds.
