I've recently traded up to one of the newer Summit Viper climbing treestands but I have to be honest, for sheer ease of carrying into the woods, I much prefer my 25 year old TSS climbing stand. TSS was for Total Shooting Systems. The stand itself was made out of marine grade 3/4" plywood and it used a steel band bonded with a rubber tree-gripping strip. There were 2 rubber tie-downs used to slip your boots into and slip over the back of your heels. The climbing belt was 2" nylon webbing that attached to the so-called safety harness -- really nothing more than a waist belt with leg-loops. I didn't have the seat attachment and that was really the reason I went with the Viper.
Just wondering if anyone knew anything about this old climbing stand. Some of the load-bearing pieces were machined aluminum and after passing the steel-band through them over many years for adjusting to the tree and climbing stresses, I noticed the aluminum slot was beginning to show enough signs of wear that I thought they needed replaced.

Just a final question for the Ohio contingent -- does anyone know what happened to the sporting goods/archery dealer, Folks on Buck Hill? I figure they just went the way of a lot of smaller businesses went when a Cabelas or Bass Pro Shops moved in.
Thanks,
Greynold
