Is it possible to dye goose feathers? Being waterproof it seems like you would'nt be able to do it with the regular stuff.<br><br>ok guys............what's the trick?<br>

Shane,<BR><BR>A buddy and I dye feathers for fly tying, and mix the Rit with alcohol. It seems to work fine for that. I suppose it would work on goose fletchings? Some one else will probably have more info.<BR><BR>OkKeith<BR>

Goose feathers aren't actually "waterproof". They have more natural oils on them so they shed water better than turkey feathers. They should dye about the same as turkey feathers. I've had luck with rit dye, using the instructions on their website for dying feathers. 3Rivers has some feather dye, I've read it is good stuff and the colors look great, I've never used it though. <P>They don't have to be all perfect. I'd just like to get one signifigantly darker than the others so I can have a black sliver to splice into the cockfeather. Does'nt even really have to be black. Just differrent.</P>
