well ladies and gentlemen,i've been home about 2 weeks and i'm still in pain.that was the roughest country i've ever saw, rock slides upon rock slides but by golly the elk were there if you could get to them.the weather was hot and the bulls werent responding to calls very well.we saw big and i mean big bulls everyday, the locals told us we were crazy for hunting that area, every step you took you were stepping on loose rock and let me tell you it was the steepest terrain i've ever encountered and i've saw some country! the zipper elkbow,48lb at 29 did the job though and at 20 yards sent a snuffer through the chest of that bull(head on shot) plumb to the fletch taking his heart out, after he stopped sliding he made it less than 30 yards total after the shot! i know what your thinking (head on shot)but let me tell you,if you practice shooting everyday and you know your limits, that is a very lethal shot, you must study your anatomy though./kevin

Congratulations. New Mexico has a lot to offer and elk is well done on the list.

jeduffy,if your interested let me know and i can help you out,a good friend lives out there and believe me he knows where they're at if you want to go after them, rough country though!!!
