Unconventional, that's why I entered it. And I know what you mean about pimping it out, it did have a certain primitive appeal in its natural state. I think the silk and paint does help protect the sinew from rapid moisture swings though, most of the old bows had this. I do suck at pimping things out too, I lack that artistic touch.
I forgot to mention, the bow has three Chinese characters stamped on each limb, standing for earth, wood, and water. I probably should've included the other two (fire and metal), since metal tools were used and I did heat some of the parts though no toasting was performed.
