Winter has taken a firm grip on northern Wisconsin and the fall bowhunting season is about done. I was pretty lucky, though, with harvests of a nice elk in Colorado and whitetail buck and wild turkey in the Badger State. I just returned from a hog hunt in South Carolina with eight other Trad Gangers and had a great time, although no hogs were taken. Now, back in the deep freeze of Wisconsin, there are about three more weeks of archery deer hunting available. I took a hike recently and found evidence of deer activity in the county forest, so I'm planning on setting up a hammock tree seat on the downwind side of a trail to see if I can harvest a late season doe. Hunting from the ground in the late season can be a really exciting experience.
